Not Bad for a Newbie

Published by grandy at 11:40 pm under Blogging Edit This

This blog has really forced me to look at things differently.  In the past I always dreamed of knowing how people stumbled onto my other blog.  Thanks to the likes of LJ, I now have a shiny stat counter over there, and I’m learning more about who comes to see me, and from where.

I stumbled into the stats page again, to see how my stats here are comparing to the other today.com sites.  Well folks, I’m not doing too shabby although my numbers are down 30% from last week (WTF?).  I’m getting 47 people stopping by per day, which isn’t bad because I’m still in the first month of this blog.

Well what I’m trying to figure out is…what are those other people in the top 10 doing?

I have lots to learn…that’s for sure.  Maybe I should start with finding out how long they’ve been there and just be happy with the ones I have in this short time.

Thanks all!!

Hey there. I write Convention Fans. As for what I do, I treat blogging like a part time job. It means spending a few hours working on it every day. I make sure I do all 300 entrecard drops. I post my links to Facebook, MySpace, and LiveJournal. I post to Reddit.com, and I have a small following on Fark.com. I also get a good 60-75 google hits a day from writing good keyword items that come up in searches.

    Hope that helps a bit.

Not bad, newbie. Here’s my advice: Pictures. The majority of my visitors find my blog through Google image searches. Include at least two pictures in every post you write.

Dreadpirate~ I don’t know that I CAN do 300 drops…but I will try. I’m still learning about the keyword thing.

Tamicks~ The thing about that is when I leave comments anywhere, it seems to link back to my other blog. Not the today.com blogs though. I will have to try more of those sites. Thanks so much!!
