Flipping Out Over the Internet

Published by grandy at 2:09 am under Challenges Edit This

While trying to post at my other site tonight, I experienced some strange things.  I went to link to another post, and realized all my pictures from those posts were gone.

Weirder yet, I have a post that had some YouTube videos on it (I only just learned how to do this) and it looked like this:

WTF?

Whoawhohuh????

Alright, now is NOT the time to panic, I thought to myself.

I’m sure I was missing a very simple steps to fixing this, so I went through each on:

  • STEP 1:  Check the network connection -  The message I kept getting?  There is an un-fixable problem and no connection to the internet.  Yeah… ya think??
  • STEP 2:  Call Brother-In-Law, husband of twin who is genetically enhanced herself when it comes to technology, have him walk me through the step.  He very wisely led me to…
  • STEP 3:  Try the non-laptop computer to see if there is a connection there.  (What a smart guy).  That led us to the conclusion of….bummer…it’s probably the modem.
  • STEP 4:  Call the phone company who services the DSL and chew some ass find a solution.  After all, I had not finished dropping my EC cards for the day.  (I seriously have a blogging addiction)
  • STEP 5:  Speak with the very pleasant lady, who had a calming southern drawl, and have her explain it’s a system problem and they’re working on it.
  • STEP 6:  Pour a drink…repeat…drink some more…repeat…pour a drink…repeat…

All I know, is I have a connection now, I tried to get to the root of it by myself FIRST before calling anyone, and I still needed my helpline.

Bummer!
